Texas Amateur Hockey Association Announcement Regarding Board of Director Vacancies

On April 15, 2025, the TAHA Board of Directors appointed Mark Servaes as TAHA Vice President, to fill the remaining term after the recent passing of Jill Nicholson. This position will be up for election at the June 2026 Annual Meeting.

Last month, the High Section President resigned, and this position is temporarily vacant. The term for this office is up this year and an election will be held at the 2025 Annual Meeting. Because the election is near and there are no immediate activities associated with this position, the TAHA Board will not make an interim appointment.

The position of Secretary is also vacant, and the TAHA Board needs to fill the position. Article 11 of the TAHA Bylaws address vacancies on the Board. The election for the Secretary position is not scheduled until June 2026. Per Article 11, this vacancy shall be filled by appointment of the Board, by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Board. The appointed replacement shall serve the remaining term of the member replaced.

Under Article 6, Section 3, all elected members of the Board of Directors must be current or former Associate Members of TAHA. When the Secretary position has been filled, the appointed person will serve the remaining term (until June 2026 Annual Meeting).

Under Article 7, Section 3, The Secretary shall attend all meetings of the Board and of the Members, shall keep a record of all proceedings at such meetings and maintain such records, and shall be the custodian of the Association's records other than the financial records maintained by the Treasurer.
